Spring 2014 League update
Wednesday, January 08, 2014 10:16:46 AM

The Spring season starts March 24th... Sunday leagues will have 4 divisions with D1 the highest skill level and D4 the lowest skill level. Our policy is to move higher skilled teams up a division and move lower skilled teams down a division to maintain parity.  On Monday we have our Over 35 division and Monday night we will have a 6 team division of Over 25. Tuesday we will continue our two divisions and Wednesday is Over 40 and Masters.  Thursday will have two divisions again and Friday is our beginner Tin league and Friday Night Fun Coed league. We are trying to start a new Saturday adult league and a Sunday night Women's league.  Call the Castle at 602-331-2582 or Peoria SportsPlex at 623-878-2444 for additional infromation.
League Parity update
Saturday, December 21, 2013 7:32:49 AM

The Castle Sports Club and Peoria SportsPlex try hard each season to maintain balance in our leagues.  A competitive yet balanced league creates a fun league for players of all skill levels.  I would like to take a moment and clarify the philosophy we follow to maintain balance in our leagues.

The "move up", "break up" or "move out" philosophy is the idea if your team wins multiple championships in a league the team should move up a skill level or individual players on the team should move up to the next available level.  If the next available level is not a practical solution we may ask a player to change teams "break up".  In rare cases when a team refuses to help us balance the league a team may "move out" completely.

When games are close, tied or go into overtime we are happy and the leagues are balanced.  Please help us in supporting our "good for business" philosophy of balanced leagues.  Also remember that as hard as we try to maintain balance in our leagues some players try harder to unbalance the leagues.  Once a league starts it takes 3-6 months to rebalance that league. This philosophy has served us well to create the best hockey leagues in all of Arizona for over a decade.
